Hand-built 1923 T-Bucket Hot Rod
Current Owner and “rebuilder-restorer”- Dustin Cooper
This car was originally built by Chuck Otter, Indianapolis between the years of 1969-1971. Chuck stated he had spent just over $5,000.00 on the total build at the time which would be the equivalent of $41,000.00 in 2024. That doesn’t begin to cover the chrome and gold plating for this restoration. It was shown on the ISCA circuit as “Enginuity” beginning in 1972 and then put on the street in the mid-seventies. My father owned the car during the 90’s. I vividly remember riding around in the car as a kid. Dad then sold the car. I found the car for sale on Facebook Marketplace in a horrible state of disrepair in 2018. A decision was made to completely dismantled the car and rebuilt everything over the last 5+ years. Except for the body work, paint and chrome, all of the rest of this build was done in the garage at home. During the restoration, every effort was made to keep the integrity and old school style intact as it was built new back in the day. Hence, the removal of all added Aluminum Billet and 1-800 catalog parts that made its way onto the car over the years.
I had the car on display at the 2024 Detroit Autorama. While there I requested that the Ridler team of judges give the car a good look over and tell me what they saw wrong with the car. The team found only 6 areas to improve upon.
As a result over the summer, the car was about 60% dismantled to correct the anomalies found in Detroit by the Ridler team.
